Data science and machine learning in wastewater intelligence

In our ever-changing (and probably deteriorating) environment, water is a scarce and limited resource. Interacting with it daily, we transform it from usable to waste. One aspect that differentiates efficient utilization from an inefficient one is the ability to return wastewater to the environment safely to protect its biodiversity and ultimately public health. Kando has developed, among others, proprietary sensors and methodologies to continuously monitor the quality of wastewater. These are employed to alert treatment facilities to events requiring attention, whether in terms of internal operations or interaction with the entities responsible. We discuss the challenges and our solutions around identification of contaminated events and polluting agents in an industrial setting with emphasis on DS (Data Science) & ML (Machine Learning) methodologies used.
